Amy Colpitts is a primary school teacher living in the Middle East, where she has taught for over 13 years. One of her favourite moments of the day is storytime, when she shares books with children and invites them to journey into new worlds together. Passionate about the power of storytelling, Amy regularly creates and writes stories with her young learners, bringing them to life through drama, music and explorations of culture and heritage. These shared storytelling experiences inspire her writing and shape the authentic voice of her work. The Gingerbread Camel, Amy’s debut picture book, was inspired during the Eid season and grew from classroom storytelling. With its playful twist on a familiar folktale, the story introducesyoung readers to the landscapes, geography, animals, and traditions of the UAE – in a warm and accessible way.
